Nature Writing combines the restorative benefits of nature with creative expression, helping us slow down, notice more deeply, and connect with our thoughts and surroundings.
-
Spending time in nature may support creative thinking by allowing the mind to wander, make new connections, and approach ideas from a fresh perspective. Research has proposed links between nature, attention restoration, and creative thinking, although the evidence is still developing
-
Natural environments can give our attention a chance to recover from the constant demands of everyday life. A 2025 meta-analysis of 80 studies found that nature exposure was associated with improvements in overall cognitive performance, particularly working memory and attentional control
-
Expressive and positive writing practices have been associated with improvements in well-being and positive emotions. A recent systematic review found the most consistent benefits in areas such as optimism, happiness, and overall well-being.
Nature Writing
Slow down, observe, and let nature inspire your creativity through a guided Nature Writing experience.
Nature Writing invites you to explore the natural world through words, whether through journaling, poetry, creative writing, reflection, or simple observations. You’ll be encouraged to slow your pace, engage your senses, and notice the details around you—the sounds, colors, textures, scents, movement, and feelings that arise while spending time in nature.
Sessions may take place outdoors immersed in nature or indoors, depending on the experience. When writing outside, the landscape itself becomes part of the creative process, offering endless inspiration and opportunities to observe, reflect, and express. Indoors, you can draw inspiration from memories, natural objects, images, sounds, or your own connection to the natural world.
There’s no need to consider yourself a writer, and there’s no expectation to create something perfect. Through gentle prompts and invitations, you’ll have the freedom to write in whatever way feels natural to you.
Come with an open mind, a curious spirit, and a willingness to notice. Put pen to paper, let nature be your inspiration, and see what unfolds.
Cost: $350 Private Groups (up to 10 people; +$30 per additional guest)
“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.”

Nature Writing is a creative and reflective experience inspired by the natural world. You may explore journaling, poetry, creative writing, sensory observations, personal reflection, or simply putting your thoughts into words.
-
Not at all! You don’t need any writing experience or consider yourself a writer to participate. Nature Writing is about noticing, exploring, and expressing—not creating a perfect piece of writing.
-
You’ll be guided through gentle writing prompts and invitations designed to help you slow down, engage your senses, and draw inspiration from the natural world. You’ll have time to observe, reflect, and write at your own pace.

Sessions may take place outdoors immersed in nature or indoors, depending on the experience. When outdoors, the sights, sounds, scents, textures, and movement of the natural world become part of the creative process.
-
Prompts may encourage you to write about what you see, hear, feel, remember, imagine, or notice in your surroundings. You might write a poem, a journal entry, a short story, a reflection, or simply a few words.
-
No. Your writing is yours. You’ll never be required to read your work aloud or share anything you’ve written. Sharing may be offered as an invitation, but participation is always your choice.
-
No writing supplies are necessary. We provide the paper and writing utensils you’ll need for the session. You’re welcome to bring your own journal or favorite pen if you prefer.
-
That’s completely okay. Your guide will provide prompts and creative invitations throughout the experience. There’s no pressure to write continuously—sometimes simply observing, listening, or sitting quietly can be part of the process..
-
Absolutely. Nature Writing can be as simple as describing what you notice, recording a thought, reflecting on a memory, or writing a few sentences about how a particular place makes you feel. There is no required style or format.
-
Dress comfortably for the weather and the environment. Layers, comfortable shoes, water, sunscreen, and insect protection may be helpful for outdoor sessions.
-
Nature is part of the experience, but your comfort and safety come first. If conditions are unsafe or severe weather is expected, an outdoor session may be moved indoors or rescheduled.
-
Yes. Private sessions can be a wonderful experience for groups, retreats, celebrations, friends, families, or organizations looking for a creative and meaningful way to connect with nature.
-
You may leave with a new perspective, a collection of writing, a deeper appreciation for your surroundings, or simply the feeling of having slowed down and made space for creativity and reflection.
-
That’s perfectly okay. No previous writing or creative experience is necessary. Come with curiosity, notice what’s around you, and let the natural world provide the inspiration.
