Land Art combines creativity, mindfulness, and nature connection, inviting us to slow down, create freely, and experience the natural world in a new way.

Creating directly with materials from the landscape can encourage people to pay closer attention to their surroundings and develop a stronger sense of connection with nature. Arts-in-nature research has found increased nature connectedness among participants.
-
Creating with natural materials encourages imagination, experimentation, and a different way of seeing the environment around us. Research suggests that natural settings can support creative engagement, although findings on nature and creativity are mixed
-
Gathering natural materials, arranging them, and noticing their textures, shapes, and colors encourages us to slow down and become more present with our surroundings. Nature-based arts experiences have been associated with feelings of calm, reflection, and well-being
Land Art
Slow down, get creative, and connect with nature through a hands-on Land Art experience.
Land Art invites you to create something beautiful using materials found in the natural environment. Depending on the experience, you may work individually or collaborate as a group to create a temporary piece of art using leaves, stones, sticks, flowers, bark, and other natural elements.
There’s no right or wrong way to create. You’ll be encouraged to explore your surroundings, engage your senses, and let the landscape inspire your imagination. The process is about being present, playful, and connected—not about creating something perfect.
An important part of the experience is honoring the place where we create. We use natural materials that will fully biodegrade and return to the environment, allowing your artwork to naturally disappear over time and leave the landscape as we found it.
Whether you create on your own or as part of a group, Land Art offers a unique opportunity to slow down, express yourself, and experience nature in a new way.
Create with nature. Leave no trace.
Cost: $350 Private Groups (up to 6 people; +$50 per additional guest)
“We often forget that we are nature. Nature is not something separate from us. So when we say that we have lost our connection to nature, we’ve lost our connection to ourselves.”
Andy Goldsworthy

Land Art is a form of creative expression that uses natural materials found in the surrounding environment. Instead of bringing traditional art supplies into nature, the landscape itself becomes part of the creative process.
-
That depends on the day! You might create a pattern, sculpture, mandala, arrangement, natural collage, or something completely unexpected. Your guide may offer ideas or prompts, but there is no required project or finished product.
-
Not at all. Land Art is about exploration and experience rather than artistic skill. There are no right or wrong ways to create, and you don’t need any previous art experience.
-
Depending on the experience, you may create your own individual piece or work together as a group to create a larger collaborative work.
-
We use natural materials found in the environment, such as leaves, sticks, stones, flowers, grasses, pinecones, bark, and other appropriate materials already present in the landscape. On occasion, we may supplement with fully organic and biodegradable paper, which will allow us to set intentions that will be left behind to disintegrate.
-
No. The natural environment provides the materials. We intentionally avoid materials that could harm the environment or remain behind.
-
Land Art is intentionally temporary. Our creations are made using natural materials that will fully biodegrade and return to the environment, allowing the artwork to naturally change and disappear over time.
-
We prioritize respecting the landscape and using materials that are already naturally available, such as fallen leaves, sticks, stones, and other appropriate materials. We do not damage living plants to create artwork.
-
The intention of Land Art is to leave the artwork where it was created and allow it to naturally return to the environment. You’re welcome to photograph your creation as a lasting memory.
-
That’s completely okay. Your guide will offer creative prompts and ideas to get you started. You can also simply begin by exploring the landscape and noticing what catches your attention. There may be a collaborative artwork being made, which will offer additional structure.
-
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes appropriate for spending time outdoors and exploring natural terrain. Depending on the weather and location, sunscreen, insect protection, water, and layers may also be helpful.
-
If your Land Art session is taking place outdoors (most of them will) , weather is naturally part of the experience. If conditions become unsafe or severe weather is expected, the session may be postponed or rescheduled.
-
You may leave with a new appreciation for the landscape, a sense of accomplishment, a creative experience shared with others, and a deeper awareness of the natural materials and beauty around you. And while the artwork itself may disappear, the experience—and the memories of creating it—remain.
-
